After hanging out on the colourful rooftops of Bangkok, it comes as no surprise that many Thailand travellers arrive in Krabi and ask us, “Where are the best rooftop bars in Ao Nang?”
Quite honestly, Ao Nang (or Krabi Town for that matter) isn’t really a rooftop bar kind of town. With a population of around 8000 people (and a more, relaxed, beach resort vibe), it doesn’t carry the right audience to warrant the bustling themed rooftops that Bangkok (or even some of the other Thai cities) does.
HOWEVER! That’s not to say we don’t have a few rooftops hangout up our sleeves. Krabi does have several top deck stops, offering beautiful views and a relaxed atmosphere. Here are the tourist (and local) favourites …
Sea Salt Krabi Restaurant
Perched atop the 6th floor of the Phranang Place Hotel in Ao Nang, Sea Salt Krabi Restaurant offers a relaxed but classy rooftop dining experience. The restaurant offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu featuring wood-fired pizzas, grilled meats, seafood, and a variety of vegetarian and vegan options.
They’re known to locals for its craft cocktails and live music performances every Monday and Friday from 19:30 to 21:30. The venue provides panoramic views down Ao Nang’s main street and surrounding mountains and comes with a breezy atmosphere. Access is through the Phranang Place Hotel lobby via elevator.
Krabi Sunset Tours’ top deck
Who said rooftops are exclusive to hotels and skyscrapers? The top deck of our traditional junk boat is (in our humble opinion) the best rooftop view in all of Krabi – just you, the islands, and the sunsets out at sea.
And, we can help bring extra glamour to your ‘at sea’ rooftop experience! After sharing a photo of a special guest occasion, we’ve had a lot of requests to recreate this Instagram-worthy dinner and drinks moment. Bring your own or speak to our team about adding this to your service package.

The Blue On Top Bar at BlueSotel SMART Krabi
You’ll find The Blue on Top Bar on the 6th floor of BlueSotel SMART Krabi (accessible via a staircase from the fifth floor.) The rooftop comes with panoramic views of Ao Nang’s limestone cliffs and the Andaman Sea and is an adults-only venue.
They’re open daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, guests can enjoy a selection of creative cocktails, local beers, and a menu of international and Thai-inspired snacks available from surrounded by two infinity pools and a spacious sunbathing terrace.
As evening falls, the bar is illuminated with blue lights, creating a vibrant atmosphere not too dissimilar to some of the Bangkok rooftops.
Anana Sky Lounge at Anana Ecological Resort
While we’ve not been here ourselves yet, the lounge here is getting good reviews so far! It’s tucked away above the treetops at Anana Ecological Resort, with 360-degree views stretching across Ao Nang’s limestone cliffs and green hills.
We’ve been told it’s a great Ao Nang setting for a slow sunset, a cold drink, and a breath of fresh, peaceful air. What sets this one apart? The whole resort is grounded in eco-conscious design, and that ethos carries through here, from a plant-forward menu (straight from their farm) to the calm, open setting.
Ao Nang Mountain View Restaurant
This one is a little bit of a curve ball, as it looks out onto the roads and cliffs (further inland, just outside Ao Nang), rather than the usual sea-views. While they’re not a rooftop location as such, they do have the option to dine with a view, with rooftop seating or viewing from an elevated area.
If you love the limestone cliffs on the drive from Krabi to Ao Nang, this one might just be for you. As you pass by, it’s height, décor, and unusual shape is the first thing to catch your eye. Nestled in greenery, you’ll feel like you’re dining within a forest.
If you’re looking for something quirky and off-the-beaten path, then you’ll probably not find something more off the path than this one!
Khaothong Hill Restaurant, Krabi
About a 30-40 min drive north from Ao Nang, Khaothong Hill Restaurant was once hailed as THE hidden gem restaurant/rooftop of Krabi. However, as with so many ‘hidden gems’, it’s often quite busy (especially in high season) because of TikTok exposure.
Perched atop a hill, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and the surrounding limestone cliffs, decorated with bamboo selfie spots and ‘traditional’ Thai craftsmanship.
The restaurant features multiple seating areas, including open-air terraces and an air-conditioned indoor space, and the menu offers a mix of traditional Thai dishes and international plates.
While there is no direct public transport, travellers can reach the restaurant by scooter, taxi or private car (if you’re taking a taxi, we recommend that you arrange for the driver to wait, as return options can be limited.)

Din Daeng Doi
More of a viewpoint than a rooftop, but we still think Din Daeng Doi deserves an honourable mention. Social media hasn’t seemed to have taken this one in its claws just yet, and so it still feels like an escape from the bustling tourist spots.
The summit here provides a sweeping 360-degree view of the Nong Thale sub-district, the Andaman Sea, and surrounding valleys. Early mornings often reveal a mystical sea of mist enveloping the landscape, making it a photographer’s paradise. At the top, you’ll find a café where you can enjoy lighter snacks like pancakes and rotis while soaking in the views.
